GPU Desktops for CAD and rendering teams.

Run persistent Windows or Linux desktops on your GPU servers with Neverinstall Private Cloud and Virtual Desktops. Your admins maintain each team’s application image, drivers and updates.

Workstations tie engineers to one desk.

Each CAD workstation carries its own GPU, drivers, applications and files, and is imaged and replaced one machine at a time.

Size the desktop for the engineering work.

Neverinstall Virtual Desktops delivers the engineer’s session. Neverinstall GPU Infrastructure provides GPU capacity on your Neverinstall Private Cloud cluster. Size each desktop’s GPU profile and memory for the applications the engineer uses.

Include Neverinstall Virtual Desktops users, Private Cloud nodes, server capacity and application licenses in the review.

Test your team’s files, devices and licenses.

Let engineers agree on acceptable interaction and completion times.

  1. Build the team image

Record CAD and rendering applications, versions and license servers. Install the applications and tested GPU drivers.

  2. Choose the GPU size

Give each desktop a whole GPU or a vGPU slice, sized for the applications the engineer runs.

  3. Run representative work

Open large assemblies and render representative scenes. Test monitors, 3D mice, tablets and license-server access with the chosen client and network.

  4. Approve sizing and updates

Record the GPU profile, memory, device results and approved image. Test an image update before expanding to another team.

Questions about GPU workstations.

Which GPUs are supported?

NVIDIA GPUs with vGPU, MIG, time-slicing or passthrough, and AMD GPUs with passthrough or SR-IOV partitions. We confirm the GPU model, driver and profile for each application during the pilot.

How do engineers connect?

Use a browser or supported RDP client. Desktops are persistent, so engineers return to the same desktop between sessions.

Do application licenses carry over?

Check license terms for virtual desktops. The pilot also tests that each application can reach its license server.

Will 3D mice and tablets work?

Test the devices with the chosen client during the pilot. Keep a list of the model, task and result before rollout.

How are GPU workstations priced?

Neverinstall Virtual Desktops is billed per user, per month. Neverinstall Private Cloud is quoted per node for your GPU servers. The quote lists Windows and application licenses separately.
